With warmer temperatures in the forecast, officials with the Town of Drayton Valley are reminding residents to stay off the ice on storm ponds.
Officials say they have received several reports of children playing on the ice and are reminding residents the ice is currently very thin and unpredictable.
Residents are also reminded that storm ponds are very different from the outdoor skating or lakes and may have hazards hidden beneath the surface.
Parents are encouraged to speak with their children about the dangers of playing on or near ice-covered ponds.
