February 21
11:55 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Hwy 22/Jubilee Ave – Members attended a collision at the intersection between a full-size SUV and a large pickup. Several passengers in the SUV were treated for minor injuries. The driver of the SUV was given a ticket for failing to stop at a red light.
3:42 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 49 St – Complainant reported a bag with work related items was stolen from the bed of a truck. Occurred between the 18th and the 20th. Under investigation.
4:38 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 56 Ave – Complainant reported a female was assaulting an older roommate, possibly due to a potential eviction. Members attended and arrested the female and transported her to cells. Paramedics were called to assess the female who suffered minor self-inflicted injuries received when she decided to bang her head in the back seat of the police vehicle. The female was given court compelling paperwork with conditions and transported to hospital for treatment.
11:50 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 620/Elk River Rd – Complainant reported a traffic hazard and possible impaired driver after encountering two females with a white SUV in the ditch who were asking for a ride. Members were already enroute as the SUV had just been reported stolen from the O’Chiese First Nation, with suspect names provided. Members attended and arrested two intoxicated females. The SUV had no apparent damage and wasn’t quite in the ditch so the owner was able to attend and retrieve it. The two suspects spent the night in jail; charges are pending against Thelma and Louise.
February 22
10:23 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Center Blvd – Complainant reported that her rear vehicle window was broken while she was at work. Under investigation.
11:55 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported ongoing harassment from a neighbour who already has charges pending for similar behaviour. Members attended and obtained supporting evidence. The suspect male was arrested and charged with three counts of breaching prior release conditions. He was held for a telephone bail hearing and subsequently released by a Justice of the Peace with conditions.
1:32 p.m. – Brazeau County – Ring Road area – Complainant reported that overnight his vehicle was rummaged through and several personal items were stolen. Members investigating recalled that a male they had spoken to earlier had at least one of the items in his possession. Members attended the suspects address and arrested him and secured the residence. A search warrant was obtained to search the residence which lead to the recovery of some items. 45-year-old William Scarr was charged with possession of property obtained by crime, failing to comply with probation, common nuisance and possession of a controlled substance. Scarr was held for a telephone bail hearing and subsequently remanded in custody.
February 23
5:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 55 Ave – Complainant reported being a victim of fraud. Complainant received a phone call claiming to be the landlord of his employer who was requesting money for a courier delivery. $600.00 was sent via Bitcoin. Police are virtually unable to investigate these complaints due to the nature of crypto-currency.
5:06 p.m. – Poplar Ridge – Complainant reported multiple break-ins to a residence where the residents were recently evicted. Under investigation.
8:49 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Members responded to assist paramedics with a report that a male had been bear sprayed. A suspect was identified, located and arrested and subsequently held for a telephone bail hearing. The male was released by a Justice of the Peace to appear in court at a later date. Police do not believe there is any ongoing public risk.
February 24
1:59 a.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to investigate weapons and drug offences allegedly ongoing in the area.
9:57 a.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to investigate allegations of a youth being sexually assaulted.
10:07 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 56 Ave – Complainant reported two generators stolen from a trailer in a business yard. Under investigation.
11:56 a.m. – Poplar Ridge – Complainant reported an evicted female was breaking into her former residence (see February 23 at 5:06 pm). Members attended but the suspect was gone. Under investigation.
February 25
7:00 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported his 2005 Toyota pickup stolen. The complainant had left the truck running with the door locked while he went into a convenience store. Suspect smashed the window and drove off. The next morning members located a male who had been in the vehicle the suspect arrived in; this second male was arrested on unrelated matters, but provided a potential suspect id for the truck theft. Under investigation.
4:24 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 34 St – Complainant reported that a male who had been driven home from work due to impairment had returned by bicycle to pickup his vehicle. Member located the vehicle and samples of the driver’s breath were obtained roadside, resulting in two “fail” readings. The driver was issued a 90-day provincial impaired driving suspension and his vehicle was impounded. Luckily bicycle weather is coming soon.
February 26
6:50 a.m. – Drayton valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Complainant reported a male leaning over a shopping cart and not responding to the complainant. Member attended and found the male was now walking about. Member recognized the male from a file the previous morning. Due to potential involvement in the file from the day before, the male was arrested but chose to provide a fake name. The male was eventually positively identified as 41-year-old Michael Mackinaw. Mackinaw was charged with obstruction, failing to comply with a release order, possession of a controlled substance and possession of ammunition while prohibited. Mackinaw was held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded into custody.
12:55 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 46 Ave – Complainant reported that his Grandfather’s red Dodge Dakota pickup had been stolen sometime in the past day or two. Under investigation.
3:23 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Complainant reported a shoplifter stole approximately $325.00 worth of product. Under investigation, license plate of a vehicle provided that the suspect left in.
3:33 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported two counterfeit $100.00 bills were used at a business. Under investigation.
10:33 p.m. – Brazeau County – County Peace Officer requested assistance at a traffic stop as the driver had a warrant from Edmonton Police and was suspended from driving. Member attended and arrested the male on the warrant while the Peace Officer dealt with the driving issues. The male was held in cells for a telephone bail hearing and subsequently released to appear in court at a later date by a Justice of the Peace.
