A decision is expected this spring following the jury trial of a Drayton Valley man charged in the death of a Red Deer man over two years ago.
Jordan David Ruff, 31, is scheduled for decision in Red Deer Court of King’s Bench on May 9, 2024.
The date was set following Ruff’s jury trial in Red Deer Court of King’s Bench from Jan. 26-Feb 16, 2024.
It was on Nov. 14, 2021, at 3:05 p.m., when Red Deer RCMP received a request to attend a residence in the area of 58 Avenue and 69 Street in Red Deer to assist Emergency Medical Services with the sudden death of 37-year-old Dennis Anderson Edwards of Red Deer.
As a result of further investigation, Red Deer RCMP believed the death to be suspicious. The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit then took over the investigation, with an autopsy completed by the Calgary Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
On Nov. 23, 2021, the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit obtained a warrant and arrested Jordan David Ruff of Drayton Valley for first-degree murder.
