There was a large turnout for advance voting in the Parkland riding recently with 26,172 voters casting a ballot early between April 18 and 21.
That means just over 28 per cent of eligible electors cast an advance vote in the riding that not only includes Drayton Valley, but also Spruce Grove and Stony Plain.
There was a similarly strong turnout in neighboring ridings, including, Leduc-Wetaskiwin (24,796), Yellowhead (27,666), Peace River-Westlock (17,655), and St. Albert-Sturgeon River (30,250).
Province-wide, 815,131 Albertans took advantage of advanced voting over the four days.
Across the country, Elections Canada says a record number of Canadians cast their ballots early in advance polls this year.
The agency says that, over four days of polling between Friday and Monday, 7.3 million people voted.
That’s up 25 per cent from early voting figures in the 2021 federal election.
Elections Canada says it made adjustments to deal with long lineups at polling stations in the early part of the long weekend.
Federal leaders are making their final pitches to voters across the country with less than a week to go until election day on April 28.
