Unfortunately, this is a version of a very common scam.

March 14

Member attended and located – you guessed it – one of the brothers dealt with twice already. 2:18 a.m. – Brazeau County – RR75 – Member on patrol attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle that instead chose to flee. Member did not pursue but was able to follow from a distance and quickly located the vehicle in the ditch at the entrance to Beaver Estates, where the occupants had fled on foot. Containment was set up in the area and Police Dog Services assisted in tracking the occupants, but it appeared they were picked up on an adjacent Range Road. Member was able to identify two female suspects and the investigation is ongoing.
2:19 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – 911 call received reporting that a male was seen walking past IGA with a rifle, and a second person was heard saying that someone had been shot. One member was in the area still dealing with the earlier impaired driving stop and another member attended and patrolled the area. Nothing was found and nothing had been heard by the member in the area. The area was patrolled despite the fact that the call was suspiciously received only moments after a vehicle had fled from a member. Also very suspicious was that the phone number the call came in from is associated to one of the female suspects believed to have been in the fleeing car.
10:20 p.m. – Tomahawk area – Hwy 759 – Complainant reported road rage by a male acquaintance and that the second male rammed him after the complainant brake checked the suspect. The suspect had then ended up stuck in the ditch while the complainant fled. Both vehicles were damaged but neither party wanted to report the damage stating they would “fix it themselves.” The complainant did not want charges and the second male claimed to not know the other, even though police know this to be untrue. Under investigation, charges are possible.
March 17
10:20 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – A hotel staff member reported a guest masturbating in the lobby and that the suspect then followed the complainant to a bathroom where she was able to lock herself in for safety, as the male was continuing his lewd behaviour. 11:30 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 Ave – Complainant reported two teenage males attended his door; one was heard on a doorbell camera saying something about being stabbed. As the pair walked away a large stain was visible on the back of one males’ jacket. Members identified the pair from the doorbell video and located them. The jacket stain turned out to be from a fall into a mud puddle and not from any wound. The two explained that a third male had inflicted a superficial cut on one of their hands when he refused to carry the suspects beer. Neither wanted to provide a statement or provide further information to charge the suspect. Under investigation; all known to police and the suspect is on probation conditions.
