With property owners facing consistent trespassing issues, Drayton Valley RCMP have partnered with Drayton Valley Enforcement Services to launch the Trespassing Agent Program.
This program allows police officers, Bylaw officers, Peace officers and security guards to act as agents of property owners or occupants to remove trespassers in accordance with provincial legislation.
Residents interested in joining this program will be required to sign a formal agreement between Enforcement Services and the property representative. Once the agreement is signed, agents will be able to act without first having to notify the property owner. These agents will also be given the authority to take action to prevent, investigate and respond to trespassing incidents on private property on behalf of the property owner or occupants.
Officials believe this program offers many benefits to the community, including, enhanced protection of private property, increased deterrence, improved response times for trespassing calls and fewer court appearances for property owners.
More information and registration forms for the Trespassing Agent Program can be found on the Town of Drayton Valley website.
