Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) officials issued a Wind Warning for Brazeau County, including Drayton Valley and Breton, on Thursday, Jan. 16.
Northwest wind gusts of up to 90 km/h are expected throughout the day and into the afternoon but are expected to weaken this evening.
Drivers, especially those in high-profile vehicles, are being informed that strong winds combined with expected snowfall may cause poor visibility in some areas and could lead to strong cross-winds on some highways.
Residents are also being advised that strong winds could toss around loose objects that have the potential to cause injury or damage property.
Updated alerts and forecasts will be posted to the ECCC website as they become available. To report severe weather, send an email to ABstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #ABStorm
