Due to high wind speeds associated with snow squalls in the area, officials with the Village of Breton closed all public sidewalks for the day on Wednesday, Jan. 16, after a tree was blown down across a sidewalk on the east side of Centennial Park.
With wind gusts of up to 90 km/h expected throughout the day, residents are being advised to stay indoors and off public sidewalks to avoid any potential injuries from further downed trees.
Public works crews say they will attempt to remove the tree once the winds have calmed down and they will also be assessing if any other trees in Centennial Park pose a risk to public safety.
Village officials apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank residents for their cooperation.
