December 12
11:36 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reported a male laying on the highway beside a guard rail near the North Saskatchewan River Bridge. A member attended and located the male shivering on the ground. RCMP reports that checks found he had outstanding warrants, so he was arrested and held in cells for a telephone bail hearing.
1:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 St – Complainant reported a female shoplifter. A member attended and located the suspect walking away. The member arrested the female and recovered items allegedly stolen from the store. Thirty-two-year-old Nicole Wakeford was arrested and held for a telephone bail hearing on charges of theft and failing to comply with conditions. Wakeford was subsequently released by a justice of the peace to appear in court at a later date.
6:00 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR 65 – Complainant reported a male in a Jeep had allegedly crashed through a ditch and into a fence; the complainant suspected alcohol was a factor. Member attended and issued the driver a 24-hour suspension and towed the vehicle.
December 13
3:48 p.m. – Parkland County – Hwy 624 near Hwy 759 – Members responded to a report of a collision. A large energy industry service truck had crashed off the highway and into the treeline. Parkland Fire Department and Paramedics attended as the driver had serious injuries and had to be extricated from the truck, after which he was transported to a hospital in Edmonton via STARS air ambulance for treatment.
December 14
8:07 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complainant reported that while she left her SUV running to warm up it was stolen. Witnesses later called in with a possible location and members were able to recover the vehicle and arrest a female. The female was held in cells to sober up and then released to appear in court at a later date.
8:52 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported her truck stolen from a parking lot, occurred sometime since 2:00 a.m. The complainant had left it parked after a party and when she came back it was missing. Under investigation.
December 15
12:02 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Meier Ave – Complainant reported an ongoing argument in the basement suite of her residence. Members attended and arrested an intoxicated male for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and another male; he was held for a telephone bail hearing and subsequently released by a justice of the peace to appear in court at a later date. The individual had also allegedly tried to leave in his truck and struck two parked vehicles nearby; as a result, he was also issued a 90-day provincial impaired driving suspension and his truck was seized after he provided two breath samples which both resulted in a “fail” reading, RCMP reports.
5:20 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Omniplex – Members responded to alarms triggered in the building. No suspects were found inside, though video showed two people had entered and then left without committing any further crimes. It is suspected that the door wasn’t properly locked after an earlier event.
12:26 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 46 Ave – Complainant reported several extension cords used for block heaters had been stolen from a parking lot of a senior’s complex.
6:54 p.m. – Poplar Ridge – Complainant reported that she hadn’t heard from her niece since the morning when she was trying to get a taxi home. Members investigated and determined the female was in Drayton Valley still. The complainant reported shortly after that her niece had called, and had just fallen asleep at a friend’s residence.
December 16
10:49 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop with a suspicious vehicle. Investigation lead to the driver being charged for allegedly having no insurance, no registration and being a suspended driver. The driver was given a summons to appear in court and the truck was towed.
11:08 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Member arrested a male passenger at the above traffic stop due to a warrant for unpaid fines. Friends bailed him out with the required cash. Members determined that the male could be charged with a breach of conditions, but based on a review of the circumstances, discretion was used and no further charge was laid.
December 17
1:37 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St/50 Ave – Complainant reported an unwanted male in a convenience store, not causing major issues, just ignoring requests to leave. Member attended within a few minutes and found that the male had left and was not located in the immediate area.
8:02 p.m. – Violet Grove – Member attended a residence to assist firefighters responding to a truck on fire. Member found the situation was beyond what a fire extinguisher could handle and waited for the professionals. Truck badly damaged but fire not suspicious; possibly caused by a block heater issue.
December 18
1:55 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 759 – Complainant turned in a trailer wheel lock located near Township Road 500. Item will be held for possible pickup by owner.
3:07 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Complainant reported a known male and female filled a shopping cart with items and allegedly left a store without paying. Under investigation.
