A jury trial has been scheduled for a man charged in a County of Wetaskiwin homicide a year-and-a-half ago.
Corey James Anderson, 45, of Wetaskiwin County, was ordered to stand trial following a preliminary hearing in Breton Court of Justice on Jan. 30, 2024, to determine if his case had enough evidence to go to trial.
His jury trial has now been scheduled for June 9-20, 2025, in Wetaskiwin Court of King’s Bench.
It was on Nov. 25, 2022, when Breton RCMP responded to a report of a sudden death at a rural location in Wetaskiwin County. As the investigation developed, officers from the Central Alberta District GIS Unit and the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit were deployed and took over the investigation.
Mounties say the deceased was identified as 44-year-old Wetaskiwin County resident Janet Magnuson.
As a result of the investigation, on Dec. 16, 2022, the suspect was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
