Officials with the Village of Breton have released details for this years Canada Day celebrations including events taking place and the parade route.
According to organizers, everyone is invited to participate, saying anyone who shows up at the meeting point will be put somewhere in the parade; the lineup for the parade will begin at 11:00 a.m., on 51 Street, in front of the elementary school. Participants are being asked to line up on 51 Street just off of Highway 616 at which point they will be organized into a line before heading out.
The parade is scheduled to being at the 51 Street and Highway 616 intersection at 12:00 p.m., and will follow 51 Street north to Breton Family Foods. From there participants will proceed east on 50 Avenue to the Community Centre, then the parade will head south on 48 Street until reaching Breton High School. Finally, the parade will move west on 49 Avenue back towards 51 Street and then south to Highway 616 once again.
Organizers say there will be plenty of events at the Community Centre and area before and after the parade, including:
- Pancake Breakfast – from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
- Vendor Market – from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Food Trucks – from 10:00 a.m., – 4:00 p.m.
- The Dusty Disco Café
- Mojo Diner
- Empanderia
- Haimies Mini Donuts
- Grumpy Pies
- Out West Bites
- Flyin’ Bob – Pre-Parade Entertainment at 11:30 a.m.
- Bike Pre-Parade at 11:30 a.m.
- Parade – Noon
- Show and Shine – After the Parade – Breton High School
- Ag Society Beer Garden – 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Magic Show – 1:00 p.m.
- Boobs for Bucks Breast Cancer Fundraiser – Games 1:00 p.m., to 4:00 p.m.
- FCSS Kids Zone – 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Due to current and forecasted weather conditions, organizers say there will be no fireworks display at the end of the night this year. Instead, officials say the money that would have been spent on these fireworks has been added to the budget for the Christmas Parade in December.
