RCMP in Parkland have arrested a suspect in connection to a fatal collision investigation.
It was Aug. 4, 2022 at about 4:15 a.m., when Parkland RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision in the Mink Lake area of Highway 770.
The driver of one of the vehicles, a 59-year-od woman from Warburg, was pronounced deceased on scene. The occupants of the second vehicle fled the area, police say.
Following a lengthy investigation, RCMP have arrested and charged Rudy Bird of Paul Band First Nation, and he is charged with the following:
- Criminal negligence causing death
- Fail to remain at the scene of a collision causing death
- Operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited;
- Possession of property obtained by crime over five thousand dollars.
A judicial interim release hearing was held and Bird was remanded into custody. ird is scheduled to appear on Oct. 11, 2023, in Stony Plain, Alberta Court of Justice.
