Even though it has only been open for just over a week, the new aquatic centre in Drayton Valley has grown to be very popular.
Kelsey Szlovicsak, aquatics centre manager, notes the benefits for users.
“We have a bigger facility, we are able to meet the needs more. We can have competitions, we can have more public swim times and lots of new features for kids and adults alike, as well as seniors.”
Furthermore, Szlovicsak comments on the intended benefits for the Town of Drayton Valley.
“By having competitions and things like that, it’s drawing in other people from other cities and we’ll see more attention to the businesses downtown through that. Right now, we are drawing people from other counties and surrounding areas.”
Officials say a free public swim will be held on February 20 for Family Day. More information can be found on the Town’s Facebook.
