To honour those serving or having served in the military the Drayton Valley Legion Branch 269 will be hosting a Remembrance Day ceremony at the Legion.
The service will begin at 10:45 a.m. with a parade, followed by an outdoor ceremony where the Wall of Honour will be unveiled with an additional plaque that’s been added. Following the outdoor ceremony citizens are invited inside for soup and sandwiches, a meet and greet with troops from the Battalion Service in Edmonton.
Bill Cavanagh, President of the Drayton Valley Legion says it’s a good event for people without a military background to acknowledge those who have served.
“Just to acknowledge and potentially have the view of some of the people or some of the impacts that the service our members have contributed to the world. Not necessarily to Canada but we’ve done our peacekeeping duties around the world, not so much ever here at home.”
