Drayton Valley’s new town council is ready to get to work.
The new mayor and councillors were sworn in on Oct. 25. The ceremony was held at the MacKenzie Conference Centre, and the crowd was kept small due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Outgoing mayor Michael Doerksen offered some words of advice to the new council.
“Just be able to show up to meetings with an open mind, and have a conversation; an open conversation about what is best for our community,” said Doerksen.
Once Mayor Nancy Dodds and the other councillors were sworn in, Dodds took a moment to thank those who came out to vote.
“I am just really excited to get down to work and I look forward to the next four years serving with this dynamic council,” said Dodds.
The entire ceremony was live-streamed on the Town of Drayton Valley Facebook page, and can now be watched online.
