RCMP recently completed a major drug bust in Drayton Valley.
On Aug. 13, after a two-month long investigation, Drayton Valley RCMP executed a search warrant at two residences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Police seized suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine, as well as drug trafficking materials and over $5,000 CAD.
Stephen Craig Spurrell, 38, of the Drayton Valley area, was arrested following the search warrant.
Spurrell is charged with:
-possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking of suspected fentanyl
-possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking of suspected cocaine
-possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking of suspected methamphetamine
-possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000.
“The community of Drayton Valley has been especially devastated by the heinous acts of those who choose to traffic illicit drugs, especially fentanyl,” says Cst. Cam Turner, Drayton Valley RCMP. “With Alberta struggling and in the midst of an opioid crisis, Drayton Valley RCMP remain committed to the proactive identification of these drug traffickers to bring justice.”
Spurrell was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Drayton Valley Provincial Court on Aug. 17.
